Like some child possessed,
the beast howls in my veins.
I want to find you,
tear out all of your tenderness
the beast howls in my veins.
I want to find you,
tear out all of your tenderness
“So wait, you’re not in ‘The Vampire Diaries’ at all?”
Evelyn Moreno looked down with an intense boredom from her reasonably intimidating height at the girl who, with a look of disgust and disappointment, turned to her friend and sighed, shaking her head,
“I hate these look-a-likes. Why don’t they get a real job” the pair walked away with a final accusatory glance at the athletic woman who watched them, her eyes narrowed as she counted to ten in her mind; mainly to save herself the trouble of having to wash their blood out of her crisp shirt if she allowed her impulse to take control, but also because she was there as a representative of the University, and ripping apart every little irritant with a quick swipe of her hand was just no way to go about life.
Eve was bored of L.A.
In fact, she was beginning to get a little pissed off with the entire place.
Twice she’d been asked whether or not she was a character from a Vampire programme, and an especially angry man outside a comic book store had shouted at her for appearing on the “most disappointing event in my life so far” apparently he wasn’t a fan of the ‘LOST’ season finale. The trouble with most of these encounters was that she had no idea who most of these people were talking about. It wasn’t the language barrier that stopped her from watching much T.V, being a keen linguist Eve rarely found herself struggling to understand, it was rather the general habit born of years living without the use of many electronic items. Days spent running around outside rather than sitting in front of a television, a habit that had clung to her in adulthood. Not to mention her distaste for the general hair flicking and posing that seemed to be a continuous stream of nonsense on the networks these days.
Even after all the encounters and accusations from the disappointed autograph hunters, despite her irritation, Eve felt she was coping remarkably well, controlling her rage and managing not to shred anyone with a quick, clawed back hand to the face. For a wolf nearing the lunar time of the month that was no mean feat.
In her few years of living in New York, never had Eve imagined she would find a place less suited to her than the big city. But it would appear she had found it, in the shape of Hollywood and its ridiculous inhabitants and visitors. For every moment she felt uncomfortable living in New York it would appear Los Angeles had a plethora of moments unequivocally worse for her to chose from, and so for Eve the entire weekend was a blur of her counting down the seconds to her plane journey back to the Big Apple.
For reasons that were beyond her comprehension the University had decided she would be the best representative at the L.A conference for the international transfer scheme.
Intimidating and enigmatic Evelyn felt she was perhaps the worst candidate to represent the University in a room full of academics, in fact, the only reason she could see that made her at all worthy of her place at the conference was her Italian accent, that at least allowed her to play the, “I’m foreign, I don’t understand you” card, which enabled her to escape most conversations and questions.
Luckily, most people dared not even approach her, let alone venture a question or conversation.
“Excuse me Ma’am” she turned, her gaze bright and intense, settling on a waiter wishing to seat her in the least gimmicky restaurant she was able to find along the Boulevard, “If... if you could step this way.” he managed to finish his sentence before leading her nimbly to her table for one where she would proceed to count down the minutes until she was able to return to the stark grey of New York.

If you could only see
the beast you’ve made of me
I held it in but now it seems
you’ve set it running free...
the beast you’ve made of me
I held it in but now it seems
you’ve set it running free...
