The Fay are also known as faeries, fairies, or faes. The word "fae" refers to the legendary people of Old French folklore, but the more modern term "fairy" is derived from the name of the realm where these legends lived (fayrie, with rie meaning "realm").
Fay are generally humanoid in appearance, and they can range from six inches to seven feet in height. They are described as radiant or angelic youths, but almost all fay are mischievous, which explains the synonyms impish, puckish, pixieish, and elvish.
The weakness of the fay are: cold iron, which is like poison to them; charms of herbs or rowan; running water, which they will not cross over by foot; and places which they have not been invited. A fay cannot cross the threshold of a building without invitation, or else they will become violently sick.

The Pixies (Faeries)
- Are very devious and wicked; are creative and patient.
- Enjoy playing pranks and tricks on others, especially when changing something small that will affect everything later (such as removing a pin from a chair so that it will fall apart when sat on).
- Most akin to the fairy Puck of "A Midsummer Night's Dream".
- May be extremely small, but their maximum height is roughly five and a half feet.
- Have pointed features (ears, nose, chin) and small hands and feet.
The Brownies
- Are usually kind and caring, but when they are threatened, turn very vicious.
- Are often employed as maintenance workers or housekeepers because they enjoy cleaning and tidying things up.
- Are usually short for average human height.
- Most akin to the brownies of The Spiderwick Chronicles.
- Are also know as tomte or nisse.
- Are attracted to milk and honey, especially in candy or breads.
- Have very small features, but large eyes.
The Elves
- Are patient, calm, and moral.
- Can be condescending to other races.
- Are most often sought out for information and answers, but are very cryptic in their replies.
- Can use any ONE mental/psionic power.
- Are exceeding tall, ranging from five and a half feet to seven feet at most.
- Are very attractive and give off an air of sophistication.
- Have pointed features and slightly slanted eyes.
The Harpies
- Are alluring, seductive, and mysterious.
- Have functional wings of any type, but the most common are avian (birds) and arthropodic (insects) types. These wings may be hidden during when disguised as a human.
- Are very lightweight and flexible with hollow bones; may have clawed fingers and feet, which can be retracted.
- Are often mis-named "angels".
- Are average height for a human.
- Have very sharp, eye-catching features.
The Yokai
- Are temperamental, attention-seeking, and generally rude.
- Are mostly referred to as demons, but have been called devils, spirits, and ogres.
- May have horns, tails, animalistic features, and strange eyes.
- Can use ONE physical or transportational power.
- Are average height or shorter for a human.
- Have either blunt and stunted features, or pointed features.
There are three kinds of sirens; air, water, and land sirens.
Land Sirens
- Siren form is wispy and ghost like while standing still, and a will-o'-wisp while moving.
- Can choose one Mental/Psionic power.
- In order to change into a solid form, the siren must devour someone in their will-o'-wisp state. In order to do this, they must lure someone to them and fly inside of them, taking in their life essence and their form, and killing them.
- Can use any form they have stolen in their will-o'-wisp state, but if they don't use a form for a few weeks, they lose it.
Water Sirens
- Natural form is that of a mermaid
- Water Sirens can take the form of a human, though when sun sets the siren must go back into water; preferably the ocean
- The water siren lures sailors and unwitting beach-goers to their watery graves, where she devours them
- Sirens can use either musical instruments or her singing to lure men
- Water sirens, in their human form, are not as good at singing or playing instruments, though they are still quite good
- The tail may take the appearance of any marine animals tail; dolphin, fish, shark, and can be most any color.
- Sirens, in their mermaid form, are actually not particularly beautiful. Wide, gaping mouths with small pointed teeth, webbed hands, fins, and gills are the basics for most sirens. This does not affect their human forms, however.
Air Sirens
- Half human and half bird
- Generally, an air siren appears to be a human with the wings, partial feathers, tail, talons, and backward bending knees of a bird
- Air sirens can be any bird half, from hummingbirds to eagles
- Air sirens lure people to literally jump to their deaths, although they can take the place of Water Sirens and drown their victims
- Air Sirens have a difficult time taking a human form, and when they do, there is always some trace of their bird-like form remaining
- They cannot play an instrument, though their voice is the superior among all varieties of sirens
