Here she is, boys!
Here she is, world!Ster listened for a few sentences and then began to zone out. Trey seemed to speak very lightly about the topic, but in a sort of manner so that it seemed he was going into great detail; therefore, his speech was delivered in a rather fast and confusing manner, lulling her mind to sleep. Once she noticed that he wasn't speaking anymore, she awoke and nodded a little before coming back to full consciousness. "Oh yes, of course, that sounds like a very fun job to have. Or, really, a very fun variety of jobs, for that matter. Collectors, what fun people to be around. I mean, if you like that sort of thing, of course. Collecting, you know." Wow, this attempt at revival really isn't working out too well for me this time, is it?After a moment of thought, Ster came up with an observation to note, or rather a question to ask, the boy, or man, preferably, about his odd jobs. She remembered hearing something about items that some man collects. That's pretty much it as for the listening portion of it, the rest was processed as mindless jabber and thrown out her other ear, yet the rest was probably just as important as what she'd heard. In fact, what she'd heard probably wasn't even the topic of conversation, just a random pit stop in his explanation of his jobs to refresh her on the subject. "So, you say you work with a man that collects items? What does he collect?" As far as collections, Ster was an expert. After all the years she'd lived and all the items she'd seen and "borrowed" throughout all the different cultures and world empires, she knew a bit about artifacts, and maybe this man would be of interest to her as far as lending the modern world some ancient day knowledge. “Well, its not really that I work for him – its odd jobs, so there’s no regular work, no set pay and he’s not my employer.” She didn’t want to be employed by him, “It’s more like he contracts me per job. But he’s pretty interesting to be around – like I said, he’s a friend of the family, so I guess I’m used to his… quirks. I’m not quite sure what the appeal is though; I don’t think I’ve ever made a hobby of collecting anything in my life. Well, not unless you count collecting teeth from other people back in middle school.” Trey gave Ster a sheepish grin, “I had a few issues back then.” Trauma from kidnapping, plus other people’s dislike at anything different from the normal setup tended to result in more than a few fights. The sort of fights that teacher’s looked the other way for.
“What he collects? I have no idea.” Trey answered happily, offering a brief laugh at her own ignorance. Then she seemed to consider the question more carefully for a few moments, “He seems to collect anything that takes his fancy, really. A lot of the stuff he has, I have no clue what its meant to be – he doesn’t seem to collect only one thing, but more like anything that catches his eye. He’s got a nice little collection of classic firearms, lots of books, plants and all these little statues in toga-things – and then next to it he’ll have a box of novelty USB drives.” Which had more information in them that Trey should speculate on them. Trey considered for a moment longer, and then continued, “And the rest of the things he’s got, I don’t even know what they’re meant to be – a lot of its weird looking, but I can’t divide them into pieces in my head. Some are statues or classical things, I'm pretty sure he's got some of those old - like Tudor-old - medical... thingies, and some are probably computer parts or stuff for sports I've never heard of. He just seems to collect whatever takes his fancy, and then collects anything associated with it because he can.” Another not lie. Most of the time Trey had no idea what was the boss’s got her to deliver, and couldn’t begin to speculate – but she could imagine what type of thing would be in it.
There was a brief pause, and then Trey laughed again, rubbing the back of her neck as though embarrassed, “Now that I have to explain this to someone else, it does sound really quite strange, doesn’t it?”

Here she is, boys!
Here she is, world!"Well, he sure sounds like an interesting man, wouldn't you say?" Ster collected some of the artifacts she had seen throughout her travels, but some of these items sounded fairly trivial. A lighter load was better than a chance at fortune to her. "It really does sound quite strange. I bet you've seen quite a bit, though, I imagine you have to travel a lot to transport all those items." Ster really wasn't quite sure what to say, so she continued thinking up small talk for the simple sake of conversation. "Does this man have a steady job or does he collect for a living? You know some people go out and buy strange objects, study and identify them, and then sell them for a pretty large fortune." She was most likely stating the obvious with that last comment, but there usually wasn't much depth to small talk and that was the best she could think of. Ster looked around and noticed that the area was still pretty empty. It was strangely empty for a normal day at Central Park, but then again this pond wasn't a typical destination for her so she really wouldn't know. Trey thought about artefact collecting for a moment, bouncing on the balls of her feet with energy she hadn't realized she had. Her hand movements became more animated now as she spoke, "I guess you could make a lot of money that way, but they'd be a lot of risk involved too - you'd buy lots and only a few of them would be worth anything. But that's not his business. He - hm, you know, I don't remember the details. I guess that's the way, huh? Since he's a family friend its probably assumed I've always known and I've forgotten. He works in business, so there's a couple of parts to it. He's in charge of a couple of investment groups, owns heaps of stocks, and I think he's an adviser for a few companies. He mightn't used to do more, but then stopped; he's getting pretty old after all." She shrugged, "Collecting things is just his hobby. Some people make things, others buy them."
Seen quite a bit. Trey considered that statement. She imagined that she'd see the world one day, picking up... things and then teleporting them to where the group wanted them to be (already she'd developed a few tricks for airports and the like), "I've seen a lot of the US." Accidental teleports, which eventually gave way into deliberate teleports where the starting statement had been 'I bet I could go that far!' (again, she didn't always think things through) were only the start of it. Plus she had driven around a lot of America, or been driven since she'd been a kid then, during the holidays when she didn't have school, "Like I said, I racked up all the hours I needed for my liscene doing jobs for him. Not anything outside it, though - he gets things delivered and I just pick it up. Well, Mexico a couple of times, if that counts." She grinned, "I definitely want to see more of the world after I finish school though - Europe for a start, maybe go all the way east to India and China." She stopped, though her visible eye was still bright with the thought of adventure, "I'm dominating the conversation again. What about you; if you like studying as much as you say, you must have thought about other countries a ton. Have you been to any, or are there any you want to see one day?"
